Historic Adventures 2023

Historic Adventures

Walk through the Milton College Historic District, where former college buildings constructed in the mid-1800s are still intact and have taken on new life. Main Hall Museum, a focal point of the former campus, is keeping the spirit of Milton College alive through self-guided tours of the college’s history. Traveling one mile west, you will find the “Junction” that developed with the railroad during the late 1850s, thus giving Milton two distinct business districts that afford today’s travelers the opportunity to experience a variety of specialty shopping. Tour the National Historic Landmark Milton House Museum, an 1844 stagecoach inn and authenticated stop on the Underground Railroad that sheltered men and women on their path to freedom from slavery. On this tour, walk the very path of history as you travel through the same secret passageway that ushered freedom seekers to shelter on the Underground Railroad.

Attend the Civil War Living History Days held annually in May to explore the soldiers, encampment and Underground Railroad, meet Abraham Lincoln, view cannon demonstrations, and more.
